About

I’m Caleb Leak, a graphics and systems software engineer based in Santa Clara, CA. I’ve spent most of my career working on computer graphics, VR, and computer vision. I’ve bounced between IC work and management.

I was an early engineer at Oculus VR, where I worked on the SDK, VR input, and computer vision. I struck out on my own to work on VR games for a bit and ended up working on computer vision at Compound Eye. Afterwards I returned to Meta. I built a synthetic data team from the ground up for everything AR/VR related, supported rendering on Horizon Worlds (now just called Meta Horizon) for a bit, and went back to IC work as a research engineer in Meta’s Reality Labs Research. In January 2026, my role was cut as part of Meta’s Reality Labs layoff.

These days I’m working on personal projects, writing, and figuring out what’s next. My current interests sit at the intersection of AI agents, game development, and systems programming — which recently led to teaching my dog to vibe code games.

Outside of graphics and games, I enjoy tinkering with hardware (Raspberry Pis, Home Assistant, FPGAs), retro computing (I once wrote a Flappy Bird clone for the Atari 2600 in 6502 assembly), and spending time with my two cavapoos, Momo and Hana.
